Buying your first house

Are you buying your first house alone or together with your partner? Then you are also known as a first-time buyer. Such a first time can be quite overwhelming. But we are here to guide you.

What is involved in buying your first house?

Searching for your dream home is of course very exciting, but it can also be nerve-wracking. You will undoubtedly have a number of questions, such as ‘How much can I borrow?’, ‘Which mortgage should I take out?’ or ‘How does buying a house actually work?’ Don’t worry, we are happy to explain it to you. And if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us!

How much can I borrow as a first-time buyer?

How much you (together with your partner) can borrow as a first-time buyer depends on several factors. You can make an online calculation to get an idea of the price range in which you can start looking for a house. If you want to know exactly what your maximum mortgage is, please contact us for a free and non-binding orientation conversation. We will then review your personal and financial situation to determine how much you can borrow.

Which mortgage should I choose as a first-time buyer?

As a first-time buyer, you usually choose an annuity mortgage or a linear mortgage. With these mortgage types, you pay off a part of your mortgage every month. This allows you to deduct the mortgage interest you pay as a tax deduction on your tax return. If you want to, you can combine an annuity mortgage or a linear mortgage with an interest-only mortgage. The interest on the interest-only part is not tax-deductible.
